Explosion kills 10 labourers in Pakistan’s Balochistan province

Ten labourers lost their lives on Friday when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated, striking their vehicle in Harnai district, southwest Pakistan.

Confirming the incident, senior government official Shahzad Zahri told AFP, “10 mine workers were killed in an attack in Harnai district.”

Another official, Saleem Tareen, explained that the victims were travelling from their worksite to a market when the explosion occurred.

“It was an IED blast. We are investigating the attack,” he said.

Harnai, located over 160 kilometres from Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, has seen repeated violence in recent years.

No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing, but the Baloch Liberation Army, a separatist group, has previously carried out attacks targeting security personnel and non-Baloch residents, particularly Punjabis, in the region.
