Must read

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, with 57,114 candidates securing at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.

Speaking at the announcement in Minna on Friday, NECO Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, stated that the overall pass rate stood at 67.35%.

The examination, which was conducted between November 14 and December 14, 2024, had a total of 86,067 registered candidates. Wushishi highlighted that the process of releasing the results followed the standard examination protocols, including pre-examination, examination, and post-examination stages.

A total of 29 subjects were examined, with 83,220 candidates participating in English Language and 83,024 in Mathematics. The results showed that 62,929 candidates (75.62%) earned a credit or higher in English Language, while 77,988 candidates (93.93%) achieved the same in Mathematics. Additionally, 70,711 candidates, representing 83.39%, obtained five credits or more, irrespective of their English and Mathematics scores.

Addressing concerns over examination malpractice, Wushishi revealed that 6,160 candidates were involved in various forms of misconduct, reflecting a 27.7% decrease compared to the previous year. He further disclosed that seven supervisors—two from Oyo, two from Ogun, and one each from Lagos, Cross River, and Ebonyi—were recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision, lateness, and aiding malpractice. Additionally, 14 examination centers—10 in Ogun and four in Oyo—were blacklisted for large-scale malpractice across multiple subjects.

Candidates can check their results on the NECO official website, www.neco.gov.ng, using their examination registration number.

Prof. Wushishi expressed appreciation to the federal government, the Minister of Education, and all relevant stakeholders for their support. He also announced the launch of the 2025 Digitalised Staff Annual Posting Calendar, which NECO staff members can access via apcic.neco.gov.ng/myapc.
