Armed bandits attacked Shadawa community in Katsina State last night, injuring four people, abducting several residents, and setting fire to a trailer loaded with tomatoes headed for Lagos.
The incident was revealed by a local source, Bakatsine, on his Twitter page.
“The attackers arrived in large numbers, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents,” Bakatsine wrote.
“They injured at least four people, kidnapped many, and even set fire to a trailer filled with tomatoes.”
Eyewitnesses described the attack as terrifying, with the gunmen overwhelming local security efforts before escaping with their hostages.
As of press time, authorities had yet to issue an official statement, but residents are urging the government to take action.
“We are tired of living in fear,” a local resident said. “We need security forces to do more before things get worse.”
The attack adds to the rising insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest, where banditry continues to threaten lives and livelihoods.
