The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized the recent remarks made by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, regarding the suspension of Adolphus Wabara.
Wabara, who serves as the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, was suspended by the party’s leadership in Abia State.
Reacting to Ologunagba’s stance, Abia PDP Chairman, Abraham Amah, insisted that the suspension remains valid and cannot be overturned.
He emphasized that the decision was made in accordance with the PDP constitution, dismissing the national spokesperson’s comment as a personal opinion rather than an official position of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
“We operate a structure similar to a federal system within the party, which grants state chapters the authority to discipline members without seeking approval from the NWC,” Amah stated.
He further clarified that the state chapter does not require the NWC’s consent before making disciplinary decisions, as long as they align with the party’s constitution.
“The only guiding principle for our actions is the PDP constitution, and we ensure that all decisions are made in accordance with its provisions,” he added.
