A heated altercation erupted at a checkpoint in Jeddo, Delta State, involving officers of the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Air Force, causing public uproar.
Providing details of the incident on X.com, Delta State Police spokesperson SP Edafe Bright explained that the clash occurred while policemen were transporting a suspect caught with substances suspected to be codeine, Indian hemp, and Canadian loud.
Upon reaching the checkpoint, Air Force personnel, who were reportedly familiar with the suspect, intervened and demanded his release.
When the police officers refused, a confrontation ensued.
Describing the incident as regrettable, Edafe assured that the matter was being handled.
He emphasized the strong relationship between both security agencies in Delta State and stated that the Police Commissioner, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, alongside Air Force authorities, was taking steps to prevent such occurrences in the future.
