FUOYE refutes allegations linking VC to Agbeleoba’s arrest

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has dismissed claims by the Ekiti State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) that its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, was behind the arrest of Dr. Samuel Opeyemi Agbeleoba, General Manager of “Our Peoples FM.”

In a statement released by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede, FUOYE described the allegations as false and misleading.

The institution clarified that Agbeleoba’s arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS) had no connection to any alleged sexual harassment case involving the Vice-Chancellor, as suggested by the NUJ.

“The Vice-Chancellor had no hand in Agbeleoba’s arrest or detention. The matter between him and the DSS is entirely separate and has nothing to do with the baseless sexual harassment claims being circulated,” the statement read.

FUOYE further criticized the NUJ for what it termed a misrepresentation of facts, urging the public to disregard the reports. The university emphasized that linking Agbeleoba’s arrest to an unverified sexual harassment allegation was not only misleading but also a deliberate attempt to tarnish the Vice-Chancellor’s reputation.

The institution reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the truth and maintaining its integrity, warning against the spread of misinformation.
