NLC calls for nationwide boycott over telecom tariff increase

Must read

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has urged citizens to boycott major telecommunications companies in protest against the recent 50% hike in tariffs.

In a statement released on Wednesday, NLC President Joe Ajaero announced that the boycott would commence at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

The central working committee of the NLC is demanding an immediate reversal of the price increase, insisting that telecom providers maintain existing rates until negotiations are concluded.

Ajaero criticized the Federal Government for failing to shield Nigerians from corporate exploitation, emphasizing that the boycott would continue daily from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. until the end of February.

“If the tariff hike is not reversed by February 29, 2025, the NLC will initiate a nationwide telecom shutdown starting March 1, 2025,” Ajaero warned.
