Breaking: National grid collapses, causes widespread blackout

Nigeria’s national electricity grid collapsed before noon on Wednesday, causing widespread power outages across the country.

The Nigeria National Grid confirmed the incident in a statement on Twitter: “There was a GRID DISTURBANCE before noon today. Parts of the country experienced outages. Further information shortly.”

The cause of the collapse remains unclear, but sources within the power sector suggest a possible system failure.

This marks yet another disruption in Nigeria’s struggling electricity supply, which has suffered multiple collapses in recent years.

A Twitter user, @Tunde Adeyemi, expressed frustration: “We rely on the grid for businesses and daily life. These constant failures are unbearable.”

Power distribution companies are expected to be working to restore supply, while the Transmission Company of Nigeria is expected to provide further updates.
