UNIZIK female student bites lecturer during altercation over TikTok video

Must read

A heated confrontation erupted at the Faculty of Arts, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, after a female student attacked and bit a lecturer during an argument over a TikTok video.

The incident occurred when the lecturer, identified as Dr. Chukwudi Michael, reportedly interrupted the student while she was recording a dance video in a faculty corridor.

Eyewitnesses said the lecturer attempted to pass by and lightly tapped the student on the shoulder, saying, “Excuse me.” However, she became agitated and reacted angrily, accusing him of hitting her.

The situation escalated as the student forcefully grabbed the lecturer’s clothes, leading to a physical altercation. A viral video circulating on social media captured the moment she confronted him, insisting she had been assaulted. Another clip showed the lecturer raising his hands in an apparent attempt to de-escalate the situation while the student continued to hold onto him.

Confirming the incident, UNIZIK’s Chief Security Officer, Ken Chukwurah, stated that the university had launched an internal investigation.

“Yes, we are aware of the incident. Investigations are ongoing, and the school will make an official statement once we conclude our findings,” he said.

Chukwurah further explained that Michael allegedly overheard the student making derogatory remarks about him after he passed by. When he returned to confirm if she was one of his students, he noticed she was recording a TikTok video and requested that it be deleted to avoid appearing in it. This reportedly led to a confrontation, during which the student bit him on both arms.

Images circulating online show visible bite marks on the lecturer’s arms.

Further reports suggest that the student is a 300-level History and International Studies student and the daughter of a lecturer in the university’s Engineering Department.

The university is expected to take appropriate disciplinary action following the outcome of its investigation.
