A couple and their child were abducted when gunmen invaded Dogon Ruwa, a community in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, in the early hours of Monday, February 10.
According to local sources, the assailants struck while residents were preparing to begin their daily activities.
One person reportedly sustained gunshot injuries during the attack.
A youth leader from the community, Shapi’i Sambo, described the incident, stating that the gunmen arrived unexpectedly and began shooting sporadically to create panic and disperse residents.
“When the gunmen arrived in the community, people were going about their normal activities. The gunmen started shooting sporadically to disperse residents. Many people have fled for their safety. Unfortunately, three persons were abducted. The armed men came with sophisticated weapons. Some victims were taken to a hospital in Dogon Ruwa for treatment,” Sambo said.
Residents remain on edge following the attack, as security concerns in the area continue to grow.
