Troops overrun another Turji’s camp in Zamfara, seize weapons

Nigerian troops have successfully dismantled another notorious hideout belonging to bandit leader Bello Turji in Zamfara State, recovering a significant stockpile of weapons in the process.

According to intelligence reports obtained by Zagazola Makama, the operation was carried out under Operation FANSAN YANMA.

It was as a part of the ongoing Operation Tsatsa Daji III Phase 2, aimed at eliminating criminal enclaves in the Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas.

Military sources revealed that the offensive was launched after credible intelligence indicated that bandits were regrouping near Katsira village.

When initial searches in the area proved unfruitful, the troops advanced to Fakai village, a known stronghold for heavily armed criminals.

“Garin Fakai has long been a base for Bello Turji and his fighters,” a military source said.

“Our troops conducted a thorough search, set fire to the camp, and forced the bandits to flee, leaving behind women and children, who were later rescued.”

During the raid, troops seized AK-47 rifles, an RPG bomb, and various rounds of ammunition.

In the days leading up to this mission, security forces carried out multiple operations across Zamfara, targeting bandit hideouts and dismantling kidnapping camps in the Zurmi forest.
