NUT suspends strike in four Ebonyi LGAs, continues in three others

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Ebonyi State has called off its indefinite strike in four out of the seven local government areas (LGAs) where it was initially declared over teachers’ welfare concerns.

The suspension affects Edda, Ebonyi, Ishielu, and Ezza North LGAs.

According to a statement issued by the union’s State Secretary, Comrade Bassey Asuquo, the decision was influenced by the positive response and cooperation of local authorities in these areas.

However, the strike will persist in Ivo, Ezza South, and Ohaukwu LGAs due to the failure of their respective authorities to meet the union’s demands.

The NUT expressed deep appreciation for Governor Rtd. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s intervention, commending his efforts to improve workers’ welfare and enhance education in underserved communities.

The union also acknowledged the local government chairmen who complied with its requests, ensuring better conditions for educators and students.

Furthermore, the union extended gratitude to teachers for their unwavering support and urged them to remain steadfast in advocating for improvements in the education sector.

While monitoring developments in the remaining LGAs, the NUT encouraged members to stay committed to delivering quality education to students.
