Nigeria police force denies reinstatement of SARS

Must read

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has debunked rumors suggesting that the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is being reinstated under a reformed structure.

In a statement titled “Disclaimer: SARS Remains Dissolved” and released in Abuja on Monday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, reaffirmed that SARS, which was officially disbanded on October 11, 2020, remains permanently dissolved.

“The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is not back in operation. Any claims about its reformation and new rules of engagement should be treated with caution,” Adejobi stated.

He urged Nigerians to rely on verified sources for accurate information, directing them to the official social media platforms of the Nigeria Police Force: @PoliceNG on X (formerly Twitter), @ngpolice on Facebook, and @nigeriapoliceforce on Instagram.

Adejobi concluded by emphasizing the importance of public awareness and vigilance: “Your safety and awareness are paramount; stay informed and rely on credible sources for updates.”
