Boko Haram attacks northern Cameroon village, leaves four dead

Must read

Suspected Boko Haram militants launched a deadly attack on Sanda Wajiri, a remote village near Kolkata in northern Cameroon, killing four people and destroying parts of the community.

According to intelligence reports obtained by Zagazola Makama, the assault took place late Sunday night when armed insurgents stormed the village, firing indiscriminately.

The attack sent residents into panic, but some of them fought back, ultimately managing to kill one of the assailants.

“The gunmen came at night, shooting everywhere. They set houses and food stores on fire, leaving us with nothing,” a resident recounted.

“We lost four people, but we also fought back and killed one of them.”

During the raid, homes, food supplies, and essential belongings were set ablaze, worsening the humanitarian crisis in the area.

Survivors are now left struggling with no shelter or food, as they plead for urgent security reinforcements.

Boko Haram, which has been waging an insurgency in the Lake Chad region for over a decade, has continued its cross-border attacks in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger, targeting civilians and security forces alike.

Authorities have yet to comment on the latest assault.
