Abuja bus terminals employ over 3,000 residents – Project manager

The construction of three bus and taxi terminals in Abuja has provided jobs for more than 3,000 residents, according to Rasheed Sholadoye, Project Manager at Planet Projects, the company handling the project.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Sholadoye confirmed that both skilled and unskilled workers, including security personnel, were engaged as part of the project’s workforce.

“FCT residents have benefited greatly. More than 3,000 have been employed, and more opportunities will arise as work progresses,” he said.

The terminals, located in Mabushi, Central Area, and Kugbo, were initiated by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in July 2024 to improve transportation and create jobs.

Construction at Mabushi and Kugbo began in July, while work at the Central Area terminal started later due to underground facility relocations.

Sholadoye reported that Mabushi is 92% complete, Kugbo 85%, and Central Area 50%. The first two terminals are set for inauguration by February 2025, while the Central Area terminal is expected to be completed by May 2025.

“These terminals will offer more than transportation. They will feature commercial spaces and even cinema halls for commuters,” he added.
