An elder sister to Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has publicly apologized to Nigerians for his controversial actions, while also alleging that a family member is spiritually influencing him.
In a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), she identified herself as Portable’s elder sister and expressed gratitude to the singer for his unwavering support, especially during her health struggles. She revealed that Portable played a significant role in her recovery.
However, she raised concerns about a particular family member named Akeem, whom she suspects of being responsible for Portable’s erratic behavior. She further claimed that this same individual has been targeting her as well.
Calling for public awareness, she urged people to hold Akeem accountable if anything happens to her or the singer. The video has since sparked discussions online, with many reacting to her emotional appeal.
In part, she said:
“People of Nigeria, I greet you. Regarding my younger brother, I am his elder sister, the first child of his mother. She gave birth to three children.”
“Portable has never stolen. No one helped us in the past, but when he started making money, he took care of us.”
“I’ve never spoken out like this before, and he hasn’t even posted me despite being his sister. When I had health issues, Portable sent money for my treatment, even while he was in London.”
“Portable is the one taking care of the family. If not for him, I would have died.”
“If anything happens to me, Akeem is responsible. He is the one influencing Portable, making him misbehave and offend Nigerians.”
Following the video’s circulation, concerned Nigerians flooded the comment section to share their thoughts.
