Edo govt suspends attorney general, LG commission chairman

The Edo State government has suspended Samson Osagie, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

The government also suspended Damian Lawani, Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, over allegations of serious financial and official misconduct.

Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the State Government, announced the suspension in a statement on Thursday, confirming that it takes immediate effect.

Governor Monday Okpebholo approved the action to allow for a thorough investigation into the allegations.

A committee has been set up to probe the matter and provide recommendations.

The suspension comes less than three months after Osagie and Lawani were appointed to their positions.
