Bandits launched a violent attack on Mai Bakko community in Katsina State last night, killing one person and kidnapping several others, including women and children.
According to Bakatsine, a security analyst based in Northern Nigeria, the rise in attacks on Southern Katsina communities is alarming, especially following the recent peace deal between bandits and government authorities.
“It is concerning that while efforts are being made to address insecurity in Kaduna, bandits appear to be shifting their activities to neighbouring states like Katsina.
“This pattern suggests a need for a broader security strategy,” Bakatsine stated.
Residents of Mai Bakko remain in fear as security forces have yet to confirm the number of abductees.
Community members are calling on the government to take urgent action to prevent further attacks.
The incident yet again highlights the persistent security challenges in Nigeria’s northern region.
