Skit maker Dan Bello provides clean water to Katsina villages with solar-powered boreholes

Must read

Popular social media skit creator, Bello Habib Galadanci, known as Dan Bello, has funded the construction of solar-powered boreholes in Yar Lami Santar Riga and Yar Lami Santar Lema, two rural communities in Katsina State.

The project, costing N4.3 million, aims to address the long-standing water scarcity that has plagued the villagers for decades.

These communities, located near the hometowns of former President Muhammadu Buhari and Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika, previously relied on stagnant ponds for drinking water, often trekking over an hour to access it.

The lack of clean water also deprived children of education and forced residents to seek medical care in distant communities like Dan Doma, which serves 16 neighbouring villages.

Despite facing challenges during the drilling process—including equipment failures at a depth of 65 meters—Dan Bello remained committed.

Frustrated by the villagers’ history of unmet political promises, he brought in a new surveyor and pushed the drilling company to continue work.

His determination paid off when, after persistent efforts, clean groundwater was finally accessed.

Commissioned on February 1, the boreholes now supply the communities with safe drinking water.

Dan Bello funded the project through earnings from his social media content and credited his fans for their support.

“We promised not to abandon these people like their leaders did. If we’d run out of funds, we’d have saved up and tried again,” he said, emphasizing the need for genuine leadership and community support.
