PDP BoT relocates meeting venue amid escalating tensions over security

Must read

Amid growing tensions surrounding the legal dispute over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretary seat, the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) has shifted its emergency meeting to Transcorp, Abuja, citing security concerns.

The decision follows a violent incident in which supporters of Senator Samuel Anyanwu forcibly removed Sunday Ude-Okoye from a previous BoT meeting.

UThe ongoing disagreement over the National Secretary position has caused a deep rift within the party, with PDP governors backing Ude-Okoye, while Anyanwu maintains his claim as the rightful officeholder.

Anyanwu has taken the matter to the Supreme Court, seeking an expedited hearing, citing the detrimental effects of the prolonged leadership crisis on the party’s stability.

The BoT meeting, scheduled for 11 a.m. today, is set to address the latest developments, including the recent Court of Appeal ruling and the stance of the party’s governors.

A BoT source confirmed the venue change to Punch, explaining that the relocation was necessary to ensure the safety of members following last week’s security breach.

As the crisis persists, both Anyanwu and Ude-Okoye have been instructed to refrain from attending the meeting until the issue is resolved.
