The Imo State Police Command has arrested three men in the Ogii community, Okigwe Local Government Area, for allegedly possessing a human skull.
Police spokesperson Henry Okoye confirmed in a statement that the suspects—Patrick Okoere (29), Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka (28), and Chukwuemeka Onyekachi (20)—were apprehended on February 3 along the Okigwe-Umuahia Expressway following a tip-off from local residents.
Items recovered from them included a human skull, a native hen, and white garments.
During interrogation, Okoere claimed that his uncle, Osunta Oko, had instructed him to procure a human skull for a land dispute.
He allegedly discovered the skull near a riverbank in an area notorious for kidnapping activities.
The police have launched a manhunt for Osunta Oko and other possible accomplices.
Additionally, a DNA analysis is underway to identify the skull’s origin.
Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, assured the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring security and prosecuting those involved.
The investigation is ongoing, with further updates to be provided as new developments emerge.
