I’ll not retract my comment on Ribadu – Naja’atu insists

Prominent Kano politician, Naja’atu Bala Muhammed, has responded defiantly to the legal threat issued by National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, demanding that she withdraw her statements or face legal action.

In an interview with Premier Radio in Kano on Tuesday evening, Naja’atu firmly stated that she would not retract her TikTok comment, insisting that the claims were factual and verifiable.

“I will not withdraw my statements. He can take it wherever he wants, even to the Supreme Court,” she declared.

She further asserted that Ribadu had publicly labeled President Bola Tinubu as the most corrupt governor in Nigeria during his tenure as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“What I said is that Nuhu Ribadu, with his own mouth when he was the Chairman of the EFCC, said Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was the number one in corruption among Nigerian governors. The statement is on YouTube; anyone can search and watch it,” she added.

Naja’atu also criticized Ribadu’s current role as NSA, questioning his effectiveness and accusing him of being subservient to Tinubu.

“Now, in his position as the National Security Adviser, what security is he providing? He’s doing nothing except bowing down to Tinubu,” she stated.

The controversy began when Naja’atu accused Ribadu of hypocrisy, claiming that he had once criticized President Tinubu but is now serving in his administration.

Ribadu responded through a letter from his lawyer, Dr. Ahmed Raji, SAN, which categorically denied the allegations.

Ribadu’s legal team emphasized that the claims were false, stating that he had never made such statements about Tinubu or any other politicians.

The letter further highlighted the significant damage caused by the TikTok video, accusing Naja’atu of spreading misinformation.
