President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law two significant bills establishing the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) and the Federal College of Agricultural Technology, Opialu-Ojapo in Benue State.
According to a statement released by Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, Media Adviser to the Senate Minority Leader, the bills, both sponsored by the Senate Minority Leader and representative of Benue South Senatorial District, Senator Abba Moro, received presidential assent, completing the legislative process required for their implementation.
The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, announced the development during plenary on Tuesday.
The North Central Development Commission Bill was passed by the Senate on July 4, 2024, while the bill for the Federal College of Agricultural Technology, Opialu-Ojapo, was approved on July 23, 2024.
With the President’s approval, the commission and the institution are now set to commence operations, marking a significant milestone in efforts to foster regional development and advance agricultural education in the country.
