Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has been acquitted of medical forgery charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe of the Ikeja Special Offences Court delivered the ruling on Tuesday, citing the prosecution’s inability to present a prima facie case.
The judge highlighted that the evidence provided was insufficient to directly implicate Fani-Kayode in the alleged crime.
The EFCC had accused Fani-Kayode of submitting falsified medical documents to mislead the Federal High Court in Lagos, where he was being tried for an alleged N4.9 billion fraud.
