Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has dismissed speculations of any disagreement between him and his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai, affirming that their relationship remains cordial.
Speaking on a TVC news program on Monday, Governor Sani stated that contrary to rumours, he maintains a healthy relationship with El-Rufai.
He stressed that the progress and welfare of Kaduna State are his top priorities, surpassing any personal relationships.
“I can confidently say there’s no issue between me and my predecessor.
“We have a cordial relationship, and nothing has changed. What matters most is the advancement of Kaduna State,” Sani said.
Addressing questions about the Kaduna State House of Assembly, the governor noted that the legislature operates independently, emphasizing that there’s no underlying tension related to its activities.
“I don’t understand the focus on the State Assembly. It’s an independent arm of government. The key issue is Kaduna State, not me or my predecessor,” he added.
This clarification comes in the wake of a report by the Kaduna State Assembly last year, which accused former Governor El-Rufai and some of his aides of misappropriating ₦423 billion in state funds.
El-Rufai, through his media adviser Muyiwa Adekeye, promptly refuted the allegations, labelling the report as baseless and defamatory.
The Assembly’s probe followed Governor Sani’s public remarks expressing concern over the significant debt burden left by the previous administration.
Despite this, Sani’s recent comments appear aimed at downplaying any perceived rift, redirecting attention to governance and state development.
