El-Rufai accuses Kaduna Governor of defending Tinubu over N150bn federal support

Must read

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has criticized his successor, Governor Uba Sani, accusing him of excessive loyalty to President Bola Tinubu while allegedly benefiting from selective federal financial support amounting to over N150 billion.

In a statement shared on social media, El-Rufai questioned the governor’s unwavering defense of the presidency, suggesting that the substantial federal reimbursements, interventions, and grants received by Kaduna over the past 18 months might explain Sani’s stance.

“Every day I see this governor embarrassingly and sycophantically rambling, I used to wonder why. However, confirming that Federal Government ‘reimbursements, interventions, and grants’ in excess of N150bn have been given selectively to Kaduna by Tinubu in the last 18 months, now explains everything,” El-Rufai wrote.

While acknowledging that Sani had the right to support President Tinubu’s economic policies, El-Rufai emphasized that the people of Kaduna would ultimately judge the situation for themselves.

His remarks have further deepened the political tension between the two leaders, fueling speculations that a major political battle may be brewing in Kaduna ahead of the 2027 elections.
