A tragic incident has occurred in Edo State, where a community leader was forcefully taken away by unidentified individuals, and a motorcycle rider lost his life in the process.
The attack happened along a remote route between Ubiaja, near Rest House Junction, and the Udo community. Reports indicate that the assailants intercepted the motorcycle, fatally attacking the rider before taking the community leader.
In addition to the traditional ruler, five others were reportedly taken, though one individual managed to escape.
Confirming the development, a spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, Moses Yama, stated that the case involved the community leader and a 21-year-old individual.
He explained that the victim, who was traveling on a motorcycle, was ambushed by unknown individuals, resulting in the rider’s death and the leader’s abduction.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, has ordered the immediate deployment of security operatives to the area.
Tactical units, including the Police Mobile Force, have been tasked with ensuring the safe return of the victims and apprehending those responsible.
