NiMet forecasts three days of sunshine, hazy weather

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a mix of sunshine and hazy conditions across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

According to NiMet’s weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, the northern and North Central regions will experience sunny skies with a hazy atmosphere throughout the forecast period on Monday.

In the southern region, hazy conditions with patches of clouds are expected.

For Tuesday, similar weather patterns will persist, with the North and North Central regions remaining sunny and hazy.

In the South, hazy conditions with scattered clouds are forecasted, along with the possibility of localized thunderstorms over parts of Ogun, Delta, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa states.

By Wednesday, NiMet anticipates continued sunny and hazy skies in the North and North Central regions, while the South will experience a hazy atmosphere with patches of clouds.

Thunderstorms are also expected later in the day in parts of Ogun, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa states.

NiMet has advised the public to take precautions as dust particles remain in suspension, warning that individuals with respiratory conditions such as asthma should be particularly cautious.

The agency also cautioned that strong winds might precede thunderstorms in affected areas and urged the public to adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities.

Airline operators are encouraged to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective flight planning.

Residents are advised to stay updated through NiMet’s official website, www.nimet.gov.ng, for further weather information.
