Kogi High Court nullifies appointment of Ohinoyi of Ebiraland

Must read

The Kogi State High Court in Lokoja has nullified the appointment of HRM Ahmed Muhammed Tajani Anaje as the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland.

Justice Salisu Umar, who presided over the case, delivered the verdict on Monday, ordering Anaje to stop presenting himself as the paramount ruler of Ebiraland.

The lawsuit, registered as case number HCO/05C/2024, was filed by Dr. Barnabas Adeku Ojiah and two others against the Governor of Kogi State and Anaje.

The plaintiffs contested the legitimacy of Anaje’s appointment, citing procedural irregularities during the selection process.

Anaje was appointed as the traditional ruler in January 2024 by former Governor Yahaya Bello.

However, the court’s decision has invalidated this appointment, instructing that future selections must adhere strictly to both traditional customs and legal frameworks.
