Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo has responded to the leaked screenshots of her private conversations with famous singer Naira Marley that have been making rounds online.
Recall that Iyabo Ojo and Naira Marley had a disagreement regarding the death of the late singer Mohbad who died on September 12, 2023, in a controversial way.
Following Mohbad’s passing, many accused Naira Marley, the leader of Marlian Music, of being linked to the singer’s issues and potential death.
Actress Iyabo Ojo played a significant role in advocating for justice for Mohbad. She openly accused Naira Marley and Sam Larry of being involved in the singer’s troubles. She took part in protests, gave interviews, and frequently criticized Naira Marley on social media.
In the chat shared, Iyabo Ojo had invited Naira Marley to attend some of her events, including a memorial for her late mother. In another, she asked Naira Marley for help with her adopted son, who is pursuing a music career.
In a very short time time, Iyabo Ojo reacted to Naira Marley via his Instagram.
The famous ‘Mummy of Lagos’ noted that she has supported many artists, including Naira Marley. In 2020, his team contacted her through her son, Festus, and she promoted one of his tracks.
According to Iyabo Ojo, Naira Marley reached out to thank her in a direct message. She also invited him to her movie premiere and her mother’s funeral service.
She emphasized that she never claimed Naira Marley was responsible for Mohbad’s death; her actions were a protest against injustice.
She wrote, “Naira Marley recently shared our old chats, and I’d like to address some points.”
“As a TikTok sensation, I’ve promoted various artists’ songs, including Naira Marley. In 2020, I promoted his song after his team contacted me through my son Festus.”
“Naira Marley thanked me via DM, and I also invited him to my movie premiere and my mother’s burial party.”
“As someone who supports emerging artists, I’ve helped many young musicians promote their work. I’ve allowed them to use my lounge for shows, promoted their songs on TikTok, or introduced them to music producers like Naira Marley. For example, Fabian was signed by Naira Marley but left due to personal issues, and my nephew’s music style didn’t align with Naira Marley’s label.”
