Nigerian Army troops from the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) killed one bandit and captured 23 others during a raid on a criminal hideout in Taraba State.
The operation, which took place in the Angwan Bala, Kambari area of Karim Lamido Local Government Area, was met with armed resistance as the bandits opened fire upon the soldiers’ arrival.
The troops overcame the resistance, neutralizing one bandit and capturing 19 males and four females who surrendered.
A search of the hideout resulted in the recovery of firearms, ammunition, cutlasses, knives, and motorcycles.
Investigations revealed that the bandits, who originally hailed from Plateau State, had paid ₦1.5 million to a local chief to establish their camp.
Brig.-Gen. Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their success and reiterated the Army’s commitment to securing the state.
