In a series of targeted raids, the Lagos State Taskforce has apprehended at least 30 individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities across various notorious locations.
On Friday, 20 alleged hoodlums were arrested during a coordinated operation led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Adetayo Akerele.
The raids focused on crime-prone areas within the Agboyi-Ketu and Alapere corridors, including Mile-12 Under-Bridge, Ketu Bus Stop, and Alapere.
Akerele stated, “The suspects, believed to be involved in illegal activities, are currently in custody and will face prosecution without delay.”
He added that the operation was launched in response to public outcry over rising criminal incidents in these neighborhoods.
In a separate crackdown, a special transport union taskforce in Oshodi arrested 10 suspected miscreants accused of robbing commuters around Oshodi-Oke and nearby areas.
The suspects, which included a recently released ex-convict, were captured at their hideouts atop the Oshodi pedestrian bridge and subsequently handed over to the state taskforce for legal action.
The taskforce reported that the individuals were implicated in crimes such as phone snatching, pickpocketing, and environmental violations.
Backed by KAI Marshal Major Olaniyi Cole and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the team also raided a shop used as a criminal hideout, resulting in the arrest of over 12 suspects.
These operations underscore the Lagos State Taskforce’s commitment to enhancing security and protecting residents.
Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activities to aid in the ongoing fight against crime.
