Kidnap kingpin Evans seeks plea bargain, cites remorse, academic progress

Lagos State High Court in Ikeja has been informed that notorious kidnapping kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans, is seeking a plea bargain in his ongoing trial.

Evans’ lawyer, Emefo Etudo, disclosed this development after his client was re-arraigned by the Lagos State government on a five-count charge, including murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

Despite pleading guilty, Evans is requesting leniency from the state.

Addressing the court, Etudo emphasized that his client had turned a new leaf and was remorseful.

He revealed that Evans, while in prison, had pursued education and is currently a 200-level student at the National Open University.

Additionally, he excelled in his NECO exams with top grades, supported by a Federal Government scholarship.

“Our priority is the plea bargain we submitted to the state government. My client, once lost in crime, is now reformed.

“He seeks an opportunity to visit schools across Lagos to educate youths about the dangers of crime,” Etudo told Justice Adenike Coker.

Confirming the application, State Prosecutor Y.A. Sule stated that the government would review Evans’ request.

He added that the purpose of the court session was to facilitate Evans’ re-arraignment and restart the trial process.
