Abia electoral commission chairman kidnapped from Imo residence

Prof. George Chima, the Chairman of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), has been abducted from his home in Okigwe, Imo State.

AFRIPOST gathered that four armed men believed to be kidnappers, stormed Chima’s residence while he was hosting lecturers from Abia State University, Uturu. They forcefully took him away.

The assailants initially attempted to escape with the chairman in his own vehicle, which his driver had been washing at the time.

However, their plan was thwarted when the car refused to start despite their repeated efforts.

An eyewitness recounted that the kidnappers then hijacked a passing vehicle transporting logs of wood and fled with their captive.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for Abia State, Maureen Chinaka, stated that she would provide further details but had not done so as of the time of reporting.
