Must read

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has relieved five commissioners of their duties, including two who were only recently reinstated after suspension.

In a swift move, the governor has put forward five new nominees to fill the vacant positions.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Musa Ashoms, confirmed the development on Wednesday in a statement to journalists.

“Yes, it is true. Five commissioners have been removed. The governor has also nominated five new commissioners to replace them,” Ashoms stated, without providing reasons for the dismissals.

According to an official letter from the Secretary to the State Government, Samuel Jatau, those affected by the shake-up include Sule Haruna (Commerce and Industry), Obed Nanjul (Science and Technology), Noel Nkup (Youths and Sports Development), Chrysantus Dawan (Budget and Economic Planning), and Jamila Tukur (Tourism, Culture and Hospitality).

Notably, Dawan and Tukur’s dismissal comes just three months after they were reinstated from suspension.

The newly nominated commissioners are Sunday Akpan (Bassa LGA), Joyce Ramnap (Langtang South), Sylvanus Dongtoe (Shendam), Dr. Nicholas Baamlong (Quaapan), and Cornelius Doeyok (Quaapan).
