Segun Adekoya, a well-known undertaker in Kogi State, was tragically killed by unidentified gunmen on the Egbe-Ogbe-Ponyan road in Yagba East Local Government Area over the weekend.
According to reports from Politics Nigeria, the incident occurred on Saturday, January 25, around 5 p.m., as Adekoya and his team were returning to Egbe from a funeral in the Ponyan community.
A source within the community revealed that Adekoya’s funeral service group was highly respected for its professional and compassionate service.
“Adekoya was very much loved in the community due to his exceptional work. Just a month ago, he had purchased a well-equipped ambulance on December 24, 2024, with community support to improve his operations,” the source said.
However, the tragic incident unfolded as the area was reportedly targeted by kidnappers. In addition to Adekoya’s death, a motorcycle operator was also abducted during the attack.
The motorcycle involved in the incident was later recovered from the scene, and efforts are underway to identify its owner.
