The Ogun State Police Command has detained a suspected cultist, Peter Falola, also known as Black Jesus, for alleged involvement in assault, arson, and vandalism of property valued at over ₦1.4 million in the Agbado area of the state.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, revealed that Falola was apprehended on January 20, 2025.

His arrest followed a violent incident on January 15 at the home of Oladipupo Adeniran on Ifelodun Street, Ago Ajeri, Agbado.

According to police reports, Falola arrived at Adeniran’s residence around 9:00 a.m., issuing threats to burn the house down.

He allegedly attacked Adeniran with an empty beer bottle, striking his head and inflicting multiple stab wounds. While neighbours rushed the injured Adeniran to the hospital, Falola is said to have set fire to the victim’s apartment, causing significant property damage.

Odutola outlined the losses incurred in the fire, which included clothing, a 6kg gas cylinder, a ceiling fan, an Itel Android phone, a set of chairs, and eight aluminium windows.

She added that the ceilings of both the living room and bedroom were also destroyed in the blaze.

Following a complaint filed at the Agbado Police Station on January 20, officers arrested Falola and carried out an investigation at the scene.

Odutola confirmed that the suspect remains in police custody and is undergoing questioning.

The police spokesperson further stated that Falola would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Abeokuta for further investigation.
