The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Yobe State reported the confiscation of over 537 kilograms of illicit drugs and the arrest of 46 suspects in 2024.
The NDLEA Commander, Abdulazeez Ogungboye, revealed this in Damaturu while presenting the agency’s annual report.
He detailed that the seized substances included 396.526 kilograms of marijuana and 141.2 kilograms of psychotropic drugs.
Ogungboye stated that 21 convictions were secured from the 46 suspects prosecuted, while 85 cases remain pending in the Federal High Court, Damaturu Division.
The agency also counseled 219 individuals struggling with drug dependency and conducted outreach campaigns in schools, workplaces, communities, and faith-based organizations.
He highlighted the success of a mini-rehabilitation program, which graduated five individuals after three months.
