BREAKING: Armed bandits abduct five in Abuja community

Must read

On Sunday evening, Chikakore, a community in Kubwa, Abuja, became the latest target of a bandit attack, with five residents, including an entire family, abducted.

Around 11 p.m., approximately 20 armed assailants stormed the Health Centre extension area of Chikakore, seizing their victims from their homes.

Police sources confirmed that the bandits specifically targeted the household of Adesiyan Akinropo, a resident from the Southwestern region of Nigeria.

Akinropo, along with his wife, son, a visitor, and a neighbor, were all taken, bringing the total number of those kidnapped to five.

The attack also left a woman with severe injuries, having been struck on the head with a gun butt.

She was quickly transported to a hospital where she received treatment.

Despite police units from the Byzahin division arriving an hour and a half later, the bandits had already fled the scene with their captives.

A local resident shared concerns, stating, “The bandits are back in Chikakore. We have already set aside land and a five-bedroom house for police officers, but there has been no deployment. In this incident, the police only arrived after the bandits had already taken their victims.”

A meeting between local leaders and the police has been arranged for Monday to address the growing security concerns in the area.
