2027: Stop spreading fake news, none of our members defect to your party – SDP tackles PDP

Oyo state chapter of Social Democratic Party (SDP) has advised the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to desist from spreading fake news about recent defection of some individuals to its fold.

SDP noted that none of its members defected to PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections in the state.

Our correspondent gathered that PDP had earlier said that some SDP members in Oluyole local government area at the weekend defected to PDP.

The defectors, according to PDP were led by one Mr. Olusina Ogunsola.

But SDP in its reaction, declared that the said Ogunsola is not known to the party.

SDP Chairman in Oluyole local government, Hon. Ganiyu Lawal and Secretary, Hon.Saheed Adewale Adetunji, in a statement issued on Monday, noted that SDP in the local government area is intact.

The duo in the statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, the state capital insisted that the said Ogunsola is not a member of SDP in the local government area.

The statement reads “Oluyole SDP is intact. It has come to our notice that one Mr Ogunsola led some of our members in SDP Oluyole local government to PDP Oluyole.

“We want the general public to know that SDP Oluyole is intact, none of our members left the party SDP Oluyole local government. Those names that were mentioned in the news are not our members, they have left the party before 2023 general election. It is no more news that SDP gubernatorial candidate declared support for the PDP candidate Gov. Oluseyi Makinde, which lead to his defection to PDP before last general elections.

“For Mr Ogunsola to claim that he led our members to PDP shows that he knew nothing about Oluyole politics and in the hands of political traders which we will advise him to watch his political movements and seek political advice, before he lands in the house of political parasites.

“We are using this medium to inform the general public that none of our members has defected to PDP.

“We also want to advice the PDP to stop spreading fake news that SDP members have joined the PDP”.
