The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has named the Administrative Department of its Academy in Karu, Abuja, after Aminu Salisu, an officer who was killed in the line of duty.
The announcement was made by EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede during the 2024 EFCC Rewards and Recognition ceremony held in Abuja on Saturday.
Salisu, an Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC, was fatally shot on January 17 by a suspected internet fraudster, Joshua Ikechukwu, while performing his lawful duties in Anambra State.
Olukoyede vowed to ensure that Salisu’s killer faces justice, reaffirming the EFCC’s commitment to supporting the families of officers who have lost their lives in service to the nation.
“The commission will do everything possible to honor the sacrifices of those who died in the line of duty and support their families,” he stated.
Despite the challenges facing the EFCC, Olukoyede emphasized the agency’s unwavering dedication to combating financial crimes across the country.
“We will not relent in our fight against financial crimes in Nigeria. For every officer who has fallen or been injured in the line of duty, we will not forget their sacrifices,” he said.
In Salisu’s memory, Olukoyede directed that the administrative building of the EFCC Academy in Abuja be named after the late officer, acknowledging his bravery and dedication to the anti-corruption cause.
