Muhuyi Magaji, Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, has been apprehended by police detectives allegedly sent from the Inspector General of Police’s office.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the officers detained Magaji at his office on Friday without providing any justification for their actions.
Insiders from the commission disclosed that the detectives entered the premises and insisted on taking Magaji into custody but refused to explain their mission.
Speculations suggest the arrest might be tied to an ongoing investigation into the alleged misappropriation of ₦4 billion and properties belonging to the Kano Agricultural Supply Company Limited (KASCO) under the previous administration.
Just two weeks earlier, the commission had flagged an attempted seizure of assets worth over ₦2 billion, including various vehicles reportedly linked to KASCO’s former Managing Director.
Following his detention, Magaji was taken to the One Police Headquarters in Kano, where sources claim he was denied access to his legal counsel.
Neither the police nor the Kano State government has released an official statement on the arrest at the time of this report.
