Bello Turji ready to surrender – Defence Chief

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has disclosed that infamous terrorist leader Bello Turji has expressed a willingness to lay down his arms after facing relentless military operations.

Speaking during an appearance on Politics Today on Friday, General Musa attributed Turji’s decision to the military’s recent accomplishments, including the elimination of his second-in-command and several key associates.

“These terrorists hide within communities, and their movements are difficult to track.

However, we have neutralized his second-in-command and most of his top aides.

Recently, Turji has started signalling that he is ready to surrender,” the Defence Chief explained.

Despite this development, General Musa reiterated that individuals responsible for killing innocent citizens would not be spared.

“Anyone who has committed murder must face justice.

“People like Turji should not be allowed to roam free,” he stated.

Under Operation Fansan Yamma, troops have intensified their offensive against Turji’s network, recently killing his deputy, Aminu Kanawa.

Others close to Turji, including his brother Dosso and trusted ally Danbokolo, were severely injured in the operations.

Additionally, several top commanders in Turji’s faction—such as Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, and Basiru Yellow—have been neutralized.

The military also confirmed the elimination of more than 24 fleeing terrorists in operations conducted across Sokoto and Zamfara states.
