The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two additional suspects in connection with the abduction of Mrs Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Hakeem Odumosu.
The arrests were made on Friday, January 24, 2025, as part of efforts directed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to track down the remaining culprits involved in the crime.
The suspects, identified as Agbojule Smart, 27, and Keleke Michael, 30, were apprehended while attempting to flee Lagos State.
During their interrogation, the duo confessed to being part of a four-member gang responsible for the kidnapping.
Two of their accomplices had been previously neutralized in earlier operations.
Items recovered from the suspects include N2.25 million—believed to be part of the ransom paid for Mrs Odumosu’s release—two locally fabricated rifles and 11 live cartridges.
Commending the operatives, the IGP praised their dedication to ensuring justice.
“This arrest underscores our unwavering commitment to public safety and the fight against crime in all its forms,” IGP Egbetokun stated.
He urged officers nationwide to emulate the high standards demonstrated by the Lagos State CP Special Squad.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to reduce crime and foster peace across the nation,” Adejobi said in the official release.
The police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring security and have called on citizens to remain vigilant and cooperative in reporting suspicious activities.
