The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Lt. General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, who passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof. T.A. Muhammad-Baba, the ACF described Lt. General Useni as a distinguished soldier, elder statesman, and patriot who dedicated his life to the service of Nigeria.
The late General was celebrated for his numerous contributions to the nation, which included serving as a war hero, Military Administrator, Minister of Transport, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and a Senator of the Federal Republic.
In his home state of Plateau, he was also a respected community leader.
Lt. General Useni held various command positions in the Nigerian military and was widely regarded as a nationalist and progressive leader.
As Chairman of the ACF Board of Trustees from 2009 to 2014, he was praised for his inclusive leadership and commitment to the unity and progress of the forum.
The ACF noted that Useni’s sacrifices and contributions make him a key figure in Nigeria’s history, describing him as “one of the architects of modern Nigeria.”
As the nation awaits funeral arrangements from his family, the ACF extended its condolences to his loved ones, colleagues in the military, and the Government and people of Plateau State.
