20 dead as Bandit leader defeats Boko Haram faction in deadly clash

Notorious bandit leader Dogo Gide has reportedly inflicted significant losses on a Boko Haram faction led by Sadiku in a violent clash in northern Nigeria that left over 20 fighters dead.

In a video circulating online, Gide is seen showcasing weapons allegedly seized from the defeated faction.

The weapons include 10 AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, mobile phones, and an identification card belonging to a member of the Sadiku group.

Addressing the incident in the video, Gide stated, “Sadiku and his men ambushed us, but we emerged victorious.

Our losses were minor compared to theirs, with at least 20 of their fighters killed.”

He criticized the Sadiku faction for targeting innocent civilians, particularly women and children, under the guise of religious extremism.

This conflict is rooted in personal animosity, as Gide’s campaign against Boko Haram intensified following the killing of his brother, Sani, by the group in 2023.

This act of violence spurred Gide’s drive to eliminate Boko Haram elements from his territory, reflecting the intricate and volatile dynamics of criminal and extremist groups in the region.

Security expert Zagazola Makama, on his X handle, described the incident as “a reflection of the ongoing power struggles and shifting alliances among armed groups in the area.”
