Kaduna police nab suspected kidnappers, robbers, recover stolen cattle

Security operatives in Kaduna State have apprehended two alleged kidnappers, four suspected armed robbers, and recovered stolen cattle in separate operations.

The arrests were confirmed by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, a police team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Samaru-Zaria launched a targeted operation based on credible intelligence in Zango and Hayin-Jarumai within Zaria Local Government Area.

The operation resulted in the arrest of four robbery suspects: Abubakar Alkamu, Ahmed Isah, Hassan Isah, and Umar Abubakar.

During a search at Hassan Isah’s residence, officers discovered a dagger believed to be a tool used in the gang’s criminal activities.

The suspects reportedly confessed to participating in multiple robberies.

Efforts are ongoing to track down additional members of the gang and their leaders, who are said to possess the group’s weapons.

In a separate operation in the Jere area of Kagarko Local Government, police detained two suspected kidnappers on January 19, 2025.

The suspects, identified as Abubakar Ahmadu and Shehu SNU, both from Adamawa State, were apprehended during a coordinated raid by detectives.

Three mobile phones and ₦158,600 were seized from the suspects, who admitted to being part of a bandit group operating along the Abuja-Kaduna corridor.

Authorities are pursuing other members of the gang.
