Tigran Gambaryan, a former federal agent and Binance’s financial crime compliance director, is reportedly under consideration for a significant role in the U.S. government as the Trump administration prepares for a potential return.
Gambaryan, who has spent the last two years at Binance specializing in cryptocurrency crime compliance, gained attention for his extensive experience in crypto crime investigations.
Before joining Binance, he was a key member of the federal government’s elite cryptocurrency tracking team, where he led high-profile cases during Trump’s first term.
According to Politics Nigeria, reports suggest he is being tipped for leadership positions, including heading the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) crypto assets division or a senior role within the FBI’s cybercrime unit.
His recommendation is believed to come from members of Trump’s transition team, linked to the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, which Trump himself attended.
Speaking on the possibility of re-entering public service, Gambaryan expressed his willingness to serve again, saying, “It would be an honour to contribute to the fight against cryptocurrency-related crimes on behalf of the United States.”
Gambaryan’s reputation comes despite a challenging episode when he was arrested and illegally detained in Nigeria for eight months before being released.
Binance CEO Richard Teng commented on the speculation, stating, “Gambaryan remains an employee of Binance at this time. I am not aware of his future plans or the U.S. government’s considerations.”
