The Sokoto State Police Command has apprehended a security guard at the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Zonal Office, Musbahu Auwal, for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to steal office equipment and materials.

This was revealed in a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufai.

The incident came to light on January 17, 2025, when Ladan Muhammad, the Zonal Director of NBC Sokoto, reported a theft to the Uguwar Rogo Police Station.

He informed authorities that unknown individuals had stolen several items from the Commission’s office in the Gagi area of Sokoto.

Following the complaint, police officers led by the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) inspected the site and confirmed the theft.

The stolen items included a three-kilovolt inverter, three 600-kilovolt inverter batteries, a fridge compressor, a new bus tyre, and a 32-inch LG television.

During investigations, Musbahu Auwal was interrogated and admitted to collaborating with Ismaila Ahmad, a resident of the Nakasare area, to carry out the theft.

Further inquiries led to the arrests of Yahuza Tukur and Abdulrahman Abbas, both from Nakasare, for concealing the stolen items.

Additionally, Basiru Lawali from Kuffa, Murtala Tijani from Kwanni, and Abubakar Umar from Gangaren Kuffa were detained as receivers of the stolen goods. All stolen items were successfully recovered.

The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, praised the officers for their swift action and acknowledged the public’s support in resolving the case.

He urged citizens to maintain their cooperation with law enforcement and assured that the suspects would face legal prosecution.
