Public servant wants divorce over wife’s alleged lack of cleanliness

Must read

A public servant, Adeboye Omotayo, has approached the Jikwoyi Customary Court seeking a divorce from his wife, Ella, over claims of persistent poor hygiene.

Omotayo, who resides within the court’s jurisdiction, told the court that his wife’s failure to maintain cleanliness had been a major issue in their marriage.

“My wife has never been able to keep the house tidy. Whenever I return home from work hoping to rest, the house is always dirty and has an unpleasant smell,” he said.

He further alleged that the situation had worsened over time, claiming his wife had also neglected her personal hygiene. “She doesn’t take care of herself anymore and is always looking unkempt,” Omotayo added.

According to him, his wife no longer shows love or respect toward him and seems to have only stayed in the marriage to have children. He also accused her of teaming up with her family to insult and threaten him.

In her defense, Ella, a businesswoman, denied the allegations and disputed her husband’s claims during the court session.

The presiding judge, Thelma Baba, urged the couple to consider reconciliation for the well-being of their children.

The case was adjourned to January 28 for a report on the couple’s settlement efforts or further hearing.
